Bio

I've always been fascinated with media, storytelling and connecting with an audience. Making this magic happen requires knowledge and ownership of the necessary front-end and backend tools, and a talent of working well with my team. I've worked on software development teams in start-up, academic, and corporate environments, on a variety of tools, custom-built or adapted third-party solutions.

For example:

  • Making process improvements using software: I created a Java-based multi-threaded file transfer monitoring tool to help a small team of developers overseeing telephone listing data for a large telecommunications company covering 12 states.
  • Putting the pieces together: I integrated a third-party authentication mechanism into an open source academic publishing system, allowing authors to be easily identified and associated with their work.
  • Designing the online presence: I've worked with clients one-on-one to connect their small businesses and non-profits to users online.
The web provides an incredibly exciting way to empower people and communities, and it is my passion to be a part of this experience.

When I am not building web-based tools, I am on my bike, rock climbing with my son, or reading historical fiction!
